Puerto Rico Tourism Development Fund (TDF)

The Puerto Rico Tourism Development Fund was created in 1993 to promote the hotel and tourism industry of the Commonwealth.

The Fund promotes Puerto Rico’s hotel and tourism industry by making available direct loans, letters of credit and guarantees to secure the private financing for new hotel development projects.

Currently, the Tourism Development Fund is a valuable tool for the island’s promotion and future investments of tourism projects. The Tourism Development Fund has enabled the development of 20 projects with a total investment in excess of $1,763 million, of which the financing component totaled $1,145 million guaranteed by the Fund; representing over 4,500 hotel rooms, hotel amenities and 9 golf courses around the island.

The net assets of the Fund as of May 31, 2008 were approximately $146 million.
