Puerto Rico Public Finance Corporation (PFC)

The Puerto Rico Public Finance Corporation was created in 1984 by resolution of the GDB Board of Directors to provide other central government agencies an alternate mechanism to fulfill their financing needs. As a public corporation, PFC has the faculty to make loans and to issue its own bonds or other obligations to generate the necessary funs to refinance the outstanding debt of other government entities at lower interest rates for the benefit of said entities.

The Resolution that created PFC provides that, in case the entity is dissolved or cease to exist without the designation of a successor agency, any funds or assets not needed to fulfill the debt service of its bonds or nay other obligation shall be transferred to the Secretary of the Treasury of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to me made part of the General Fund.
